Schedule of Events

WTAE Pumpkin Drop 4586
Pittsburgh Monster Pumpkins PopUp Is A DRIVE-BY DISPLAY ONLY!

Urgent Schedule Alert!

Due to a last minute political rally scheduled and happening in the same location as the Monster Pumpkin PopUp–GOLD LOT 1A–on Monday, Nov. 2, public safety officials have advised us that roads leading to and around Gold Lot 1 most likely will be closed and traffic restricted in the area—preventing spectators from viewing the PopUp exhibit. If you were planning on visiting the exhibit Nov. 2, officials have asked that you revise your plans to one of the other remaining days.

Folks, we wish things were different. But until public health and safety officials say otherwise, we are subject to the same rules and regulations currently stipulated by the State of Pennsylvania and Allegheny County regarding outdoor crowd gatherings due to the pandemic.

what does this mean?

—It means we cannot allow people to congregate, standing in groups or gathering massively, the way you normally do for an event of this nature.

—It means you must stay in your car as you drive by the PopUp display.

—It means you can certainly pass slowly, even pause briefly, to take a photo if you like, but you must remain in your vehicle at all times.

—It means a lot of effort has been expended to stage the display safely and close to the road for optimum viewing from your vehicle. So please, respect the work that has gone into bringing this creative and unique display to our City during this challenging time.

—It means please respect others in front and behind you in their vehicles. Have patience has people move past the display to enjoy the artists work and snap a quick picture.

—It means please abide by the rules so everyone who wants to see this incredible marvel gets their chance.

—It means traffic could get heavy at times, but we’ll do our best to keep things moving and we promise the wait will be worth it.

—It means public safety officials have the authority to enforce an early shutdown of the exhibit if people do not respect the “crowd-gathering” stipulations. So please, we’ll say it again, “Stay in your Vehicle.”

—It means we want you to have an enjoyable and memorable experience so we can do it all again for you next year, the normal way, the way we’re all accustomed.

—Finally, it means it’s FREE and open to all. It also means to please check the schedule below for times, especially extended days, when the display will be lit up at night. Not all days will have nighttime viewing.

WTAE-TV Project Bundle-Up Pumpkin Drop

We had to alter the delivery of this spectator-favorite activity too.…as a crowd preventive measure recommended by officials, the actual/physical drop of the typically 1,800+pound pumpkin used in this titanic free-fall will happen in an “undisclosed” location, the last day of the PopUp, Nov. 5. Don’t fret though…you can see the entire pumpkin plunge on-line in a live-stream Facebook event hosted by our media partner WTAE-TV: 1 p.m., Nov. 5 at:
